Adding an under-desk treadmills to your home is a great way to increase your daily activity level. When it comes to fitness, accessibility is important, and there are few more accessible ways to get moving than using a treadmill at your desk while working.

Under-desk treadmills are built for walking and contain space-saving features that allow them to be stored flat, making them considerably easier to hide away after usage than a complete treadmill.

Best Under-Desk Treadmills

  • WalkingPad C2
  • WalkingPad A1 Pro
  • WalkingPad P1
  • Urevo 2 in 1 Folding Treadmill
  • Sperax Treadmill Walking Pad
  • LifeSpan TR1200-DT3 GlowUp

WalkingPad C2

Size: 32.5 x 21.5 x 5 inches   –   Weight: 62 lbs   –   Max. weight: 220 lbs   –   Top speed: 3.7mph   –   Remote control: Yes   –   Wheels : Yes

Reasons To Buy:

  • Easy to store
  • Can be folded away
  • Good size walking belt

Reasons To Avoid:

  • Low maximum speed
  • App is glitchy
  • The automatic mode is confusing

The main selling point when it comes to WalkingPad’s range of under-desk treadmills is the ability to, quite literally, fold the treadmill away when you’re not using it. Yet compared to the WalkingPad A1 Pro, it’s slightly smaller and slightly lighter. Unlike the WalkingPad P1, it has got a screen to show you all of your metrics on the move.

The WalkingPad C2 is pretty compact. Yet don’t let the size of the box fool you — the treadmill is heavy, and you’ll probably need a hand when it comes to wiggling it out of its packaging and moving it to your home office. Once it’s in situ, all you need to do is unfold it and plug it into the wall, and you’re ready to walk.

Compared to the WalkingPad A1 Pro, the WalkingPad C2 feels a little flimsier — hence the cheaper price. It’s got a thinner plastic border between the edge of the belt and the edge of the treadmill, although the belt didn’t feel too narrow when walking.

WalkingPad A1 Pro

Size: 56.5 x 21.5 x 5 inches   –   Weight: 60 lbs   –   Max. weight: 300 lbs   –   Top speed: 3.72mph   –   Remote control: Yes   –   Wheels : Yes

Reasons To Buy:

  • Fast set up
  • Remote is easy to use
  • Foldable design

Reasons To Avoid:

  • App is glitchy
  • Switches between miles and kilometres

The WalkingPad A1 Pro is the best under-desk treadmill. It has a foldable design, so you can easily store it away between uses, making it a great option if you’re tight on space or need it out of sight when not in use. But that’s not all it has going for it.

The machine is fast to set up, has a remote control, and a screen on the front for workout metrics like distance walked, time, and speed. There are two modes; manual and automatic. In manual mode, you change the speed using the remote or KS Fit app on your smartphone.

In automatic mode, the belt speeds up or slows down depending on where you position yourself. Walk closer to the front, it speeds up; walk closer to the back, it slows down. Whichever mode you use, the treadmill is fairly quiet too.

Sperax Treadmill Walking Pad

Size: 48″D x 19.6″W x 4.6″H   –   Weight: 40 lbs   –   Max. weight: 300 lbs   –   Top speed: 3.8mph   –   Remote control: Yes   –   Wheels : Yes

Reasons To Buy:

  • Arrives ready to use
  • Easy to store
  • Value priced

Reasons To Avoid:

  • Small belt size
  • Noisier than others
  • Under powered

The Sperax Walking Pad is just that, a walking pad, and it’s an adequate machine for casual walkers or folks who might want to stride while working at a desk. The thin profile makes it easy to stash under a bed or couch while not in use. It arrives fully assembled with a remote control, belt adjustment tool, and a bottle of silicone belt lubrication. Set up is straightforward; you can be stepping toward your mileage goals in just minutes.

Moving the machine around is a breeze as it only weighs 45 lbs and has wheels under the front corners where it is heaviest. There is a small LED screen to keep you in the know, and the RF remote can be used on a desktop. Advertised with a 2.5 HP motor, it, in fact, has a .75 HP motor, which means it struggles to keep the belt moving under heavier load. Read on to see how this all comes together.

If your main objectives in finding a walking treadmill are price and storability, the Sperax might be the ticket. If quality and versatility are more important, you’ll likely want to look elsewhere. The size and weight of this machine are impressive, but the weak motor and small rollers diminish the value proposition. If you’re under 220 pounds and just want to grab some steps indoors with minimal investment, the Walking pad certainly is convenient.

WalkingPad P1

Size: 21.5 x 56.37 x 5 inches   –   Weight: 62 lbs   –   Max. weight: 220 lbs   –   Top speed: 3.72mph   –   Remote control: Yes   –   Wheels : Yes

Reasons To Buy:

  • Easy to set up and use
  • Affordable
  • Can be folded away

Reasons To Avoid:

  • No display
  • Remote is glitchy

WalkingPad makes several great under-desk treadmills, but the P1 is the most budget-friendly option in its range. It doesn’t have a display for your workout metrics, and the motor is a little less powerful than others in the range, but it’s a great option for the price.

It can be folded in half for easy storage, but since it has a fairly short power cord (six feet), you’ll need to position it somewhere near an electrical outlet. And, despite the lack of a built-in display, you can adjust the settings with the remote, which has a small screen.

The motor is a little louder than on other WalkingPad models, but we couldn’t notice the difference, and it’s not noisy enough to disturb others. The companion smartphone app was a little buggy, although an update appeared to resolve most of our issues during testing.

Urevo 2 in 1 Folding Treadmill

Size: 26.4″D x 53.1″W x 5.1″H   –   Weight: 57 lbs   –   Max. weight: 220 lbs   –   Top speed: 7.6mph   –   Remote control: Yes   –   Wheels : Yes

Reasons To Buy:

  • 2 in 1 functionality
  • Quiet operation
  • Budget price

Reasons To Avoid:

  • Size not ideal for running
  • Floppy handle
  • Remote doesn’t work from above desk

This treadmill is an ultra-compact type that performs well for its primary purpose and may also be used for jogging. Users who want to stretch their legs while working at a desk will like its slim design and silent functioning. This user-friendly device can be used in flat, walking mode at speeds of up to 3.8 mph; raising the handle raises the speed to a maximum of 7.6 mph. The 42.5″ x 16.75″ tread deck isn’t particularly spacious, but it’s a fair compromise if you plan to use it primarily for walking or standing at a desk.

Running on this machine is possible, but its shorter deck will make you focus on a tight stride rather than getting lost in cardio like you might on a larger machine.

This model would be ideal for users who want to burn a few calories while working at a desk or need the convenience and storability of a flat treadmill. This affordable machine offers no connectivity, heart rate monitoring, workout programs, or incline adjustment, which might make it ideal for some people.
