- Difficult to control speed of water flow
Gooseneck kettles are popular among pour-over coffee lovers due to their ability to control the flow of water. These Electric kettles are not only ideal for coffee lovers, but also for those who enjoy tea. I tested the Cosori Original Electric Gooseneck Kettle and looked at its design, usability, price, setup, and extra features. Read on to find out what I thought.
Sleek and intuitive design
The Cosori Original Electric Gooseneck Kettle is small (12.2 x 9.3 x 7.8 inches), but it has a sleek design. The kettle, lid, and base are all black with a matte finish (except the buttons). The solid color scheme struck me as both simple and sophisticated. The buttons on the electric base are silver, with white text above them. Each button represents one of five temperature settings: green tea, oolong tea, black tea, coffee, and boil. This layout was simple to read, which made it easy to use the kettle. When the kettle is turned on, the buttons illuminate with a blue light, which I found visually appealing.
The inside of the kettle is engraved with a maximum fill line. The engraving is also visible from the outside of the kettle, though it reads backward from this angle. I liked this feature, whether intentional or not, because I could easily locate the label marker. Sometimes finding the max line on the inside of the kettle can be difficult.
The Cosori Original Electric Gooseneck Kettle includes a few additional features that make it more enjoyable to use. The non-slip handle is comfortable to hold and does not absorb the heat of the kettle. There is also a place for the user’s thumb to rest on the top of the handle. Another useful feature is the cord storage area at the bottom of the base. I liked how I could hide the unsightly cord when it wasn’t in use.
Made-up of 100% stainless steel
The Cosori Original Electric Gooseneck Kettle is made from 100% food-grade stainless steel. This encompasses the kettle’s housing, lid, and spout. Overall, I found that the kettle’s construction felt sturdy and well-made.
One disadvantage is that the kettle gets quite hot because there is no insulation on its surface. I had to be careful not to touch the housing or lid while using the kettle because it gets dangerously hot.
Quick and easy to setup
To begin using the Cosori Original Electric Gooseneck Kettle, I added water (up to the maximum line) and brought it to a boil. I discarded the heated water and rinsed the interior of the kettle several times. It was then ready to use as usual.
I filled the kettle with water to begin using it. I put the lid on and set it on the electric base. I turned on the kettle using the “on/off” button and set the temperature. The kettle will immediately begin to heat the water. When it has reached the desired temperature, it will beep three times to indicate that it is finished. If the hold button (located on the front panel) is pressed, the kettle will keep the selected temperature for up to one hour.
Easy to use and best for tea
This electric kettle excels at heating water quickly. It only took four to five minutes to boil water when filled to the maximum capacity. One disadvantage is that it has a small water capacity of approximately 27 ounces. However, I only live in a two-person household, so it was adequate for me.
Each button represents one of five temperature settings: green tea, oolong tea, black tea, coffee, and boil. This layout was simple to read, which made it easy to use the kettle.
I tested the Cosori Original Electric Gooseneck Kettle by making pour-over coffee and tea. I quickly realized that this kettle isn’t ideal for pour-over coffee. Though the gooseneck pour spout was far superior to using a standard tea kettle to make pour-over coffee, I felt that it lacked complete control. As a result, I struggled to pour the water evenly across the grounds and discovered that it flowed far too quickly. After a few attempts, I decided not to use this kettle for pour-over coffee due to the spout issue.
Easy to clean
The Cosori Original Electric Gooseneck Kettle requires very little maintenance. After each use, simply wipe down the inside and outside of the kettle with a damp cloth. It should also be hand-dried. If the kettle is used frequently, it should be descaling weekly, as described in the manufacturer’s user manual.
Affordable Price
The Cosori Original Electric Gooseneck Kettle costs around $70, which is a reasonable price given its sleek design, temperature presets, quick heating capabilities, and hold function.
