GE Profile PVD28BYNFS Refrigerator
GE Profile is a high-end fridge with all the extras. There are some features which you might not expect. This refrigerator is available on both amazon and bestbuy for $4100. At the time I’m posting this there 35% discount on amazon.
This fridge has all the extras you would expect from its premium price, smoothly-sliding drawers, a through-the-door ice, water dispenser, smart features, and a flexible drawer with custom temperature. It also has some extra features which you don’t often see elsewhere, like a fully backlit refrigerator and through-the-door rotating bins.
While it is not perfect, its flaws are relatively minor. If this refrigerator is within your budget, it will be an excellent addition to your kitchen.

The backlight is both practical and luxurious
One main feature of this fridge is that Its main fridge compartment is illuminated by an LED backlight that covers the entire back of the fridge. This light not only make it easier to see your food but also really increases the overall aesthetic quality of the fridge. If there is one feature that makes you fall in love with this refrigerator, it is most likely the LED panel.
The flex drawer is perfect for platters or chilling beverages
Flex drawers are the needs in a refrigerator. In GE PVD28BYNFS, the flex drawer is separate from both the fridge and the freezer compartments, and it has it’s own temperature controls. Flex drawers have many uses, they can serve as additional fridge or freezer space.
You can keep you sodas and beer at temperatures just above freezing. Similarly, wine can be perfectly chilled to temperatures that would be unsuitable for perishable items.
Water dispenser has an auto-fill feature
In addition to the large, clear buttons, the through-the-door dispenser has an auto-fill feature that detects when your glass is nearly full and stops filling it automatically. This is one of those features that’s nice to have but you’ll miss once you get used to it. It’s ideal for those who like to multitask in the kitchen, or those of us who have been reminded of a forgotten glass by the sound of water pouring onto the floor.
In addition to automatically filling glasses with filtered water, the PVD28BYNFS can dispense both ice cubes and crushed ice. It also has a proximity sensor that automatically turns on the light to assist you in finding the dispenser in the dark.
A new door-in-door design
The door-in-door feature is not common on higher-end refrigerators. It divides the door into outer and inner sections, allowing you to quickly access the door bins without fully opening it. This design is useful for keeping frequently used items within easy reach while also retaining more of the cold air than opening the door completely.
A nice-to-have feature on its own, GE takes the concept a step further by allowing the door bin to rotate outward, providing full, easy access to the bin’s contents. We’ve never seen this design before, but it’s a welcome addition to the door-in-door concept.
Slightly less capacity than other French door fridges
French door refrigerators usually have more drawers than other types of refrigerators, which are less space-efficient than shelves. Similarly, through-the-door dispensers typically increase the thickness of the doors, reducing overall storage capacity.
The PVD28BYNFS, as a French door fridge with a through-the-door dispenser, will have less raw storage capacity than, say, a top freezer without a dispenser, despite having the same external dimensions. However, it is only slightly less spacious than other French door refrigerators—about one cubic foot less in the fridge and half a cubic foot less in the freezer.
Energy costs are slightly higher than average
The drawback of having relatively consistent temperatures is that it requires a significant amount of energy to remove heat as soon as it is introduced. Every time you open the door, the GE Profile PVD28BYNFS must work hard to remove the warm air you’ve introduced. However, this is relatively minor, all things considered. Operating the PVD28BYNFS will cost approximately $20 more over the course of a year.
Compared to other high-end fridges, this is a bargain, especially given the initial purchase price. It’s something to consider if you want to reduce your home’s carbon footprint as much as possible, but we don’t see it as a major factor in purchasing decisions.
